NDCCA Competition
Scores & Appeals
NDCCA provides a formal process for addressing certain technical rulings made during competition. Coaches should review the information below carefully so they understand what may and may not be appealed and the required appeal process.
What may be Appealed
You are only able to appeal a Tech Judge ruling in the case of:
-
Athlete steps off the performance mat
-
Team spotter helps build or catch a stunt
-
NFHS/ND State Spirit Rule infraction
-
Appropriate music
What may NOT be Appealed
You are NOT able to appeal the following:
Deductions from safety checks prior to entering the performance mat
Time infractions
Home crowd, coach, or non-performing team member yelling more than a callback with the performing team
Panel judge scores
Appeal Process
Submit the Appeal
Coaches will have 10 minutes from receiving their deduction sheet to return the Appeals Form and deduction sheet, along with the $50 appeal fee, to the Timer/Appeals Manager at the Tech Judge table.
The coach is responsible for printing and bringing the Appeals Form to the competition.
Return to the Tech Table
The Appeals Manager will notify the head coach when to return to the tech table to review the appeal with the Head Tech Judge and one Competition Director.
Provide Video Evidence
The team must provide its own video proof of the infraction being appealed.
NDCCA will not provide a video for review.
Private Appeal Review
Appeal reviews involving the Head Tech Judge, Competition Director, and Head Coach will be conducted in a private area provided by NDCCA.
Final Decision
The Head Tech Judge will make the final decision following the review.
The Competition Director and Head Coach will be present as witnesses.
Appeal Decision
If the appeal is ACCEPTED, the $50 appeal fee will be returned to the Head Coach and the deduction score will be changed.
If the appeal is DENIED, the $50 appeal fee will be retained by the NDCCA Competition Director and the infraction ruling, including the deduction score, will remain unchanged.
Appeals Form
Download and print the official NDCCA Appeals Form before competition.
Placement & Score Sheets
The Awards of Placement will be announced to the audience. After the Awards Ceremony, score sheets may be picked up by the cheer coach at the designated area.
